VPCa is hosting an educational & interactive event on Veteran’s Day with the NBC 7 & T20 Salute to Service Festival aboard the USS Midway Museum

NBC 7 & Telemundo 20 are proud to once again host the biggest military event west of the Mississippi, the 2023 Salute to Service Festival onboard the USS Midway Museum. Free to all veterans, military and their families, everyone onboard will enjoy a day of fun with performances from local choirs, live music and entertainment, food, prizes and a walk through the museum. More than 4,200 San Diegans attended the event in 2023, and we expect the same or even higher attendance in 2024, with the event held on Monday, November 11.

VPCs has been invited to partner and host a “Health Pavilion” on the flight deck. VPCa’s objectives are to:

▪ Promote good health

▪ Provide screening education for men (and offer referrals to additional resources as needed)

▪ Provide a variety of health education information and resources

▪ Emphasize the practice of good health habits

▪ Connect with health organization & agencies in the community

The Men’s Health pavilion is an invaluable service to the community and can be an exciting and rewarding experience for everyone. Funds generated through the Men’s Health Pavilion and the Veterans Day Celebration, will directly support the development of educational materials, awareness events, and research opportunities to bring about greater knowledge of prostate cancer in the Veteran population. Our goal is to educate all 19.5 million US Veterans. We are urgently supporting the 9 million Veterans who currently receive healthcare at the Veterans Healthcare Administration. In addition, we raise awareness and provide educational resources to the remaining 10 million Veterans in our communities.

Following the events on the USS Midway, VPCa is hosting a Veterans Day Celebration at the Westin San Diego Bayview hotel. The event is intended to raise awareness around the number one diagnosed cancer in the VA Healthcare System, and to celebrate the contributions of all the men and women of our armed forces.
